Welcome to Young Singers in Harmony
Young Singers in Harmony is your one stop site for every thing you need to know about young people singing in the A capella style. Young Singers in Harmony is supported by The Australian Association of Men Barbershop singers and through this the support of a network thirty thousand harmony singers through out the world.
Our aim is to provide learning and teaching resources as well as a focal point for those of us who enjoy the magic of combining the human voice in harmony. There is information on how you can access workshops, learning material, concert programmes, touring groups and even a chance for you to chat with fellow harmony singers. Discussions of specific genres, such as barbershop, Balkan world music or doo wop, facilitate an in depth understanding of those styles and their performance.

Enter your school quartet in the Schools Competition of the 2007 National AAMBS Convention ...with $5,000 prize money on offer ...just by singing!!!
This year, the National Convention of the Australian Association of Men Barbershop Singers (AAMBS) is being held in Sydney. Over 700 delegates and an audience of more than 2000 enthusiasts attend this prestigious event.
In addition to the adult chorus and quartet competitions which are part of the convention, there is a dedicated Schools Competition open to male quartets. The competition will be held on Thursday 27 September 2007 at a location convenient to the Sydney CBD.
What can you win?
First prize is $2500, second is $1500 and $1000 to third place.
Schools entering the competition will receive:
- Free teaching materials and support.
- State and national exposure for the winning quartets.
- Feedback from a panel of Australasian judges.
- Opportunity to share in a total of $5,000 in prize money.
Who can enter?
High school quartets of male singers only. Songs must be arranged in the Barbershop style which can include gospel songs. Schools can enter more than one quartet.
How do I enter?
Fill in the attached application form and fax it to 9417 5294 or mail to Jon Reed, PO BOX 722, Chatswood 2057 or email to jonreed@bigpond.net.au, to receive your information pack which includes contest rules, available music sources and contact information.
